The future of the metaverse looks bright, with the potential for open source “sub-metaverse platforms” to be accessed via WebXR enabled browsers and apps. As VR/AR technology continues to advance and become more comfortable and capable, it is likely that an increasing number of people will spend more time working and playing in virtual environments. In addition, the development of easy-to-use tools for creating content within these virtual spaces and the emergence of transportation, commerce, and exchange systems using blockchain technology will facilitate the transfer of virtual assets between different sub-metaverse platforms. It is important to strive for an open metaverse that is accessible to all, regardless of wealth or status, and that is built on open source software and interoperable standards
