Excellent response, I had a similar test experience. When a younger hiring manager has a preconception about who they want to hire, and encounter a senior individual who meets all or exceeds the filters and qualifications they have thought up, they suddenly start looking for other questions to eliminate you, like asking company culture questions or how have you fit in before in different work environment type questions . . . Still looking for ways to eliminate you, rather than just realize their prejudice. They are thinking, what will the others think of me if I hire this older person? They will think you hired the most qualified individual fairly regardless of age! Most younger interviewers are still learning how to fairly interview, and they haven't learned how to wear a poker face yet, you can read all their negative facial expressions, sometimes clearer than emojis. It's very sad, you just have to sit there and take it without comment, a pleasant friendly smile on your face. What they don't realize is that they are being interviewed too! I know what I'm talking about since I've been on both sides of the table, having interviewed countless times, hired many times and unfortunately had to do the unpleasant task of firing a couple of people after very significant warnings. A decision not based on age!
